Between the 1960s and the 2000s, Vittorio Gorini was a central figure in the life of the city of Perugia, remembered to this day by many citizens. Indeed, as early as 2001, under Mayor Locchi, a special City Council meeting was held to discuss the proposal to transform his historic home and workshop at Via dell'Oro 2 into a Museum of Eclecticism. At the time, despite the proposal receiving a majority vote in favor of the City Council, the opportunity was rejected. We believe not only that Vittorio Gorini deserves to be remembered by the City of Perugia, but also that the citizens themselves can benefit from preserving the memory of Vittorio Gorini and his audio, video, and photographic materials.

Between the 1970s and the end of the century, Vittorio produced a vast amount of photographic, video, and audio material documenting his unique philosophy of life. Since its founding, Libero Pensatore APS has recovered, restored, and made these materials accessible through events, books, performances, and films, in a process we call "cultural archaeology." In recent years, we have extended this work to the local, folk, and rural culture of Central Italy. Our ultimate goal is to create a Museum of Eclecticism named after Gorini in Umbria and make his materials available, including online.

When the association was founded in 2009, we decided to name it after the quintessential "Free Thinker" of the city of Perugia: Vittorio Gorini. A semi-literate popular philosopher and eclectic inventor, "il gorino" shaped Perugia's public life for decades with inventions, philosophical maxims, costumes, and "games" aimed at promoting his unique philosophy of "living well" among the citizens. This philosophy was condensed into 101 video messages recorded in 1988 and contained on as many VHS cassettes, and into numerous "impossible machines," such as the motorized bed, the self-toilet, and many others.

Since 2009, we have launched numerous initiatives to "recover, restore, and disseminate" this enormous body of material.

We called this activity "Cultural Archaeology": an "excavation" into a vast archive of audio, video, and image materials that tell the story of Umbria between the post-World War II period and the end of the century. The fruits have been many: books, documentaries, cultural events under the banner of "creative madness," exhibitions, fairy tales, children's theater performances, and a non-profit publishing house that has now published nearly a dozen books. Connected to the maxims, messages, and aphorisms is obviously Gorini's most striking aspect: his disguises and "impossible machines"—some of which are still in the possession of the Libero Pensatore Association:

We have also extended the activity to the investigation of Umbrian peasant culture and in general the cultural heritage of central Italy, starting from the project "The Gift of Bread"download a free chapter o or buy the book

And let the much not be a little."
